Aim and Motto of the School

The Primary aim of the School is to impart a sound and all round education while laying emphasis in inculcating in a child, habits of discipline, virtue and a sense of responsibility so that he or she may become useful and responsible members of society, upright and God fearing citizen of the country. Our motto-‘Wisdom with Character’ reflects our aim and purpose in imparting not only knowledge nut educating and bringing up a child entirely – physically, emotionally and spiritually creating a well –developed personality in the child.
Hill Crest Higher Secondary School is situated at Rynjah in the sub-Urban area outside the main Shillong town. It is a co-educational residential and day school which was started on the 1st of March 1996, and therefore completing over two decades of committed service in the spread of quality education. It follows the Meghalaya Board of School Education course for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate. The School’s motto is “Wisdom with Character” and it believes in the fact the child’s fundamental concept s are acquired at the first few years of their lives which they develop upon as they progress through their academic growth. The School   has been organized with this purpose and seeks to provide a learning environment aimed at laying the foundations of a well developed personality in the child.
The Curriculum and school activities has been designed with reference to the latest techniques and methods to suit the interest, needs and the potential of every child and to stimulate in them-imagination and creativity. There is less emphasis on conventional teaching system and more on methods that encourage children to find out and discuss things for themselves. Classroom teachings are thus combined with group activity. Every child is also guided to develop a healthy and serious aim for academic achievements. In addition to imparting a sound education the school also lays emphasis in inculcating in a child, habits of discipline, virtue and a sense of responsibility so that he or she may become useful and responsible members of society and upright and God fearing citizens of the country.

Name Of the School

The Name "Hill Crest" was chosen as the School sits on top of a hill in lower Rynjah. The School has been recognised by the state department and the Meghalaya Board of School Education as "Hill Crest Higher Secondary School" with the permission of the State Government.

Teaching Staff of the School

At present the School has a teaching staff of well trained teachers and assistant teachers. These include renowned teachers of the state who have been felicitated with the Presidents' Award and the States' award in their own field of imparting education. Apart from the teachers there are also helpers who assist the teachers in the class especially in the pre-primary and primary section.

School Management

The School id under the supervision and care of The Tribal Education Promotion Society registered under the Meghalaya Societies Registration Act, XII of 1983. The School Managing Committee (approved by the District School Education officer, East Khasi Hills District) is headed by a renowned educationalist of the state along with teachers representative from the local organizations which take care of the management of the School
